American Heritage is located on a breathtaking 11-acre parcel of property immediately adjacent to the Mount Timpanogos Temple in American Fork, Utah and serves over 600 students in grades K-12. Class sizes cap at 17 students in kindergarten, 21 in 1st grade, 22 in 2nd grade, 23 in 3rd grade, 24 in 4th grade and 25 in grades 5-12. Classes are held Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 3:05 p.m. for grades 1-6 and 8:10 a.m. until 3:10 p.m. for grades 7-12. Our AM Kindergarten classes are from 8:00 - Noon. Our PM Kindergarten classes are from 12:00 - 3:00 PM.
Students in grades K-6 study with a core teacher for Devotional, Math, Reading, Language, Literature, Phonics, Orthography, Spelling, Geography, and History. These students have specialty teachers for science, music and Physical Education. Saxon math, Riggs phonics and A Beka language are used as curriculum for core subjects.
In grades K-8 using the ITBS, a nationally standardized exam, American Heritage School scores above the 80th percentile in most subjects with many students scoring in the 90-99th percentile.
Upper school (grades 7-12) currently offers AP Calculus, AP Biology, and AP Human Geography, and students are well prepared to take other AP tests. “Core” instructors integrate the subjects of Language Arts, Literature, and History/Geography into a unified course. Electives include Spanish, French, Orchestra, Mixed Choir, Chamber Choir, Drama, Debate, Art, Ballroom Dance, Fitness for Life, Journalism, Family Science, Student Leadership and Government. Seminary is also provided at the school during the day and also as an early morning option.
Extra-curricular programs at the school include Drama, Art, Student Government, National Honors Society, Choir, Orchestra, Constitution Bowl, Science Bowl and other events. Athletics include boys and girls basketball, soccer and cross-country.
The 2011 Graduating Senior Class consisted of 25 students, including two National Merit Scholars. The average ACT score was 25.8.
